About German Disease Management Guidelines
How we started
The National Disease Management Guidelines Programme - "German DM-CPG Programme" was set up in 2002 by the German Medical Association in order to provide evidence-based medical guidance for disease management programmes recommended by the Federal Joint Committee.
Since its start, the programme has been organised by the Agency for Quality in Medicine, Berlin (AQuMed/AEZQ) - a founder member of the Guidelines International Network.
In 2003 the DM-CPG Programme became a joint project of
-
German Medical Association - GMA - (in Geman: Bundesaerztekammer - BAEK),
-
Association of the Scientific Medical Societies (in German: Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Wissenschaftlichen Medizinischen Fachgesellschaften - AWMF) - a founder member of G-I-N,
-
National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians - NASHIP (in German: Kassenaerztliche Bundesvereinigung - KBV).
How we work today
The DM-CPG Programme is a not-for-profit project set up to promote effective delivery of health and disability services within the framework of disease management in Germany, based on best available evidence from research and practice. A Steering Committee representing the programme partners GMA, AWMF, NASHIP governs the DM-CPG Programme.
As a joint project of the federal umbrella organisations of scientific medical societies and medical self administration in Germany, the DM-CPG Programme guarantees state of the art development, updating and implementation of evidence based guidelines as promoted by the Guidelines International Network G-I-N (cf. our methodological site Methodik - in German, English version under development).
The DM-CPG Programme relies on a broad-based collaborative network of experts from medical research and form in- and outpatient care, opinion leaders and consumers, designing tools to promote an evidence-based culture within the German health and disability sector. These tools include evidence-based guidelines, the circulation of the latest evidence-based news from Germany and abroad, and training.
